Raise.Me- This Free Website Helps High School Students Line Up College Scholarships- https://www.raise.me/
Launched in 2014, the website allows students to start earning small scholarship offers as early as ninth grade. Students create a portfolio, add their grades and activities, then instantly view scholarships from some of the 250 colleges that are members of the service—a list that includes New York University, Carnegie Mellon University, University of Arizona, and Michigan State University. While they can start racking up a college’s scholarship money right away, they don’t actually get any of it unless they are accepted by that school and enroll there.
Scholly App- Is a scholarship site, similar to Raiseme.com- Get the App. for Scholly and start inputting your information.
ENGAGE - The first year of high school is a time of transition that involves getting acquainted with a new environment and new groups of people. Feeling a sense of belonging is important; therefore, getting involved in sports, clubs, projects, etc. are important to getting to know people, developing new relationships and becoming engaged in the high school experience.
The Basics
Goal Setting: Set a SMART goal for the fall and spring of your freshman year. It could be academic, personal, or social. Write it down - be Specific, make it Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and establish a Time within the fall and spring semesters when you plan to accomplish the goal(s).
Preparation and Organization: Bring materials to class. Have a notebook/school planner to write down assignments and test dates. Create folders or have a notebook for each class that includes the class syllabus, notes and homework assignments.
Prioritizing and Time Management: Prioritize class assignments and plan ahead considering your personal and extracurricular activities.
Communication and Support: Utilize resources such as tutoring provided by teachers, student peers, or community resources. Meet with your counselor and ask for help when you are confused, frustrated, anxious or worried about anything.
Balance: Be intentional about creating balance in your life and remember to incorporate time for family, friends and fun!
Academics
Understand the St. Augustine 4-year educational plan, required and elective classes, and graduation requirements. Take ALL classes seriously from day one! Colleges look at grades and rigorous coursework from freshman, sophomore and junior years to make admission decisions and award merit-based scholarships.
Learn the lingo i.e., What is a transcript? What is a Credit? What is a GPA? Learn to compute your weighted and non-weighted GPA. Understand your learning style and determine effective study skills to fit your style to achieve your optimum academic achievement.
Learn about test taking strategies for classroom tests and college testing such as the ACT Aspire
All St. Augustine freshman take the ACT Aspire to become familiar with the test and begin preparing for future college tests.

Attend college test preparation workshops and utilize practice resources available through the St. Augustine Counseling and College Department
Extracurricular Activities
Start building your resume and preparing for college admission by participating in at least one or two extracurricular activities such as a school sports team or club based on your interests.
Accomplishments
Keep track of awards, special recognition certificates, etc. to start building a Freshman Resume/ Brag Sheet. Keep all of this information in a file folder that you will add to throughout your high school years.
College & Career Planning
Look ahead by identifying your interests and strengths. Start to think about how these things are connected to a potential career and major in college.
